'The Organisation'

The Organisation is a fantasy set in a make-believe world of wooden sailing ships, horse-drawn carriages and soldiers in red tunics and tall hats. Although it is a fairy tale it contains no magic or talking animals and is not meant for young children. It is intended for grown-ups, particularly ones with inquiring interests in a wide range of contentious issues..

This is a book for readers who like to be challenged, or entertained, or those who will delight in the beautiful illustrations accompanying this biting satire.

More details and brief notes about the author can be found in the book’s website at trevor-croft.com

“UK Book Publishing has provided an excellent service. I found its team of specialists to be very caring, friendly and patient. My numerous questions and suggestions have all been handled with patience, courtesy and expertise. I feel very pleased that I chose them to publish and help to advertise my book. I do not hesitate to recommend them to writers, either experienced or new to authorship, wanting to have their work published.”

'Downhill: A dramatic Romeo and Juliet set in the 1980s coal mining North'

Brought together by their passion for rock music, kindred teen-spirits Ged and Julie bridge their social divide, fall in love and marry. So far, so good…
But when life throws them into a series of challenges, the only way is down…

An exciting debut from English author Ann Thorsson, who now lives in Iceland, but has based her first book on growing up in the old mining towns in the 1980s. Get set for a rollercoaster ride.

“As a first-time author, I was rather nervous of being tied to an agent, which could have meant having control and publication taken out of my hands, so explored the option of self-publication. I was similarly wary of the machine-produced "auto-bot" type of self-publication. After all, when you've spent a couple of years writing your novel, you want to do it justice!

Having discovered UK Book Publishing's website, and reading the testimonials of other authors, I felt confident that this was the right company to help me with publication. From the initial manuscript inquiry to the polished and finished product, the team have supported the process every step of the way. E-mails were always answered promptly, and the advice was always friendly, professional and helpful. I would say they offer "supported publication" rather than "self-publication". They are clearly dedicated and passionate about helping authors achieve their dreams.

I would not hesitate to use UK Book Publishing again, and highly recommend their service - it is tailor-made to what you need, their professionalism is second-to-none and worth every penny. Many thanks to Ruth, Jay and the team!”

'Wall to Wall'

A tense thriller with lighter moments, and beautifully written, Peter’s first book is set in the not too distant future:

Britain is out of Europe; Scotland has become independent following a second referendum; and Russian forces have just marched over the Latvian border and occupied the cities of Rezekne and Daugavpils, testing NATO’s response.

Retired army captain Simon Shaw unwittingly finds himself at the forefront of the Resistance Movement, in the Scottish border region, as England quickly becomes the next target for Russia’s expansionist leaders. Simon needs to draw on all the skills honed whilst serving in Berlin before the Wall came down, to fight the immediate threat being posed to a weakened, divided country.

“I began writing this, my first book, well into my retirement years almost by accident and had no idea what, if anything, to do with it. Also by accident, I discovered UK Book Publishing. I discovered that the company is in Northumberland, where my book’s action takes place. I then discovered that Jay Thompson actually lives in the house in which I was born! How could I look elsewhere and how glad I am that I didn’t.

My book has just been published and, although I haven’t met either Jay or Ruth, they seem almost like friends. Nothing has been too much trouble, despite my no-doubt amateurish pestering. Jay’s artwork is just what I would have wished and all stages up to and including getting my book onto Amazon were handled with great efficiency. I have spent many years working with languages, including my own - English, and felt I didn’t need a proof reader. How fortunate I was to rethink. I found that proof-reading my own text for the fourth time – how boring that can be – was still turning up errors and I needed Ruth – who turned up still more and saved me from three major howlers, including an army captain who seemed to be eight years old!

Calls and emails were always answered swiftly and with warmth and courtesy.

Ruth and Jay and the rest of the team actually contrived to turn a venture which I had approached with apprehension into a pleasure.”

'A new beginning'

This is the first book in an exciting new science fiction trilogy, The Human Empire Story. Set in the late 22nd century, the world is recovering from a catastrophic event that has broken the US and the Western world. And a new empire has accidentally awoken an ancient evil with an intent to conquer Earth and enslave its population. Can Captain Magnus Tempest, commander of the United Nations Fleet Ship the King Canute, save Earth from an evil that is out of this world?

“After I had wrote the draft for my book I did some research on how best to get my book published. Looking at traditional versus self-publishing I did some research; a big bonus for me was that self-publishing gave me 100% control of my book and its direction in regard to how I wanted to market and promote it. It also meant that I wasn’t tied into a contract. I looked through the web and noticed that UK Book Publishing had some of the best reviews and examples of self-publishing. I gave them a call and spoke to their team; from then I had no doubts that this company was perfect for my venture. From the initial call to the finished product; they talked me through all the steps. From proof reading, editing, to cover design and getting it up on Amazon - the team talked me through every stage via phone and email. The service was faultless; I found the team professional, friendly and helpful, but most of all extremely approachable which I think is very important. They went above and beyond to help me reach my goal, and I felt that they wanted to be sincerely involved with my vision. I now have an amazing book and I don't think it would have looked as good if I had gone with a traditional publisher. So I say a big Thank You to Jay, Ruth, Judith and Dan, and to the rest of the team. ”

'Last Man Standing'

A fascinating and comprehensive account of the journey of a small Welsh seaside cricket club, Llandudno, from its small beginnings to the golden years of the 21st century, spanning 175 years. This beautiful hardback book includes research from the archives, match reports and stats, newspaper clippings and snippets of humorous anecdotes. A great read for any cricket fan.

“The finished product is amazing. Judging from the feed back I am getting during a feed back marketing exercise the quality and professional high standard of text setting and the striking design cover is unquestionably favourable. Both Jay and Ruth were so friendly, enthusiastic and helpful throughout every stage of the process in producing the book. Both highly skilled in their work. It will be a privilege to work with them again on my second book in the near future.”

'The Wharf Butcher'

Mike came to us initially for editing services. He had submitted his thriller to a literary agent, who liked it but advised him to rewrite and rework a number of aspects. After taking the edited manuscript back to the agent, Mike then decided to self publish his novel with us, so we designed a cover and set the book up for sale through print on demand.  The Wharf Butcher is a fast-paced thriller set on Tyneside, that pits the combined forces of a criminal profiler and highly ranked detective against a killer with the mind of a child. Can they get inside his head and stop him in his tracks?

“Judging from the feedback, UK Book Publishing has done a first rate professional job on my first novel – The Wharf Butcher. From start to finish, everyone on the team has been extremely helpful and supportive towards me throughout. Jay Thompson produced a stunning design cover, and Ruth Lunn proved to be a meticulous and helpful editor. It will be a privilege to work with them again.”

'Brief Lives'

Sir Alistair has published many books over a lifetime of work in industry and academia, but Brief Lives is his first popular science book. It comprises a series of essays that explain the science as well as giving a biographical insight into the men and women who have helped to forge our modern world. From Einstein to Jobs, Curie to Crick, the biographies include hand-drawn portraits of each engineer, entrepreneur, philosopher or scientist, and provide an excellent starting point for those who wish to understand the significant contribution these people have made.

We edited and designed the book, set it up for print on demand and as an ebook, and handled the marketing of the book, including sending out review copies.

“When seeking a publisher for a new book, I carefully looked for one that could edit it, design it, launch it on both Amazon and as an e-book, market it and publicise it. UK Book Publishing have exceeded my expectations on all accounts. Ruth Lunn proved to be a meticulous and helpful editor, and Jay Thompson produced an excellent design and cover. Everyone involved was very professional, very helpful and very friendly. I wholeheartedly recommend them, without reservation.”

'The Pogues: The best night out in town'

A book that beautifully combines humour and pathos, this is much more than a fan’s perspective of life following The Pogues. Recounting numerous scrapes and adventures, Calum Bruce’s book will appeal to Pogues diehards as well as anyone interested in a good story, told well.

We edited Calum’s book, designed a cover for him, typeset the book and set it up for print on demand. As well as selling online, Calum also got a bulk quantity of books printed, and took them with him to a number of Pogues concerts. His marketing included setting up a website, connecting with fans on Facebook and other social media, and organising media coverage.

“From the very start, I was comfortable working with some really genuine people who believed in my writing. They delivered in every way, advising me throughout superbly, and even managed to complete my project to a tight time schedule. I’m both thrilled and delighted. The end result, simply, is that my book is doing well. I’m so pleased that I chose to work with Ruth, Jay and Dan.”
