Amazon’s Author Central is a fantastic, free tool for authors. It’s important to merge or “link” your book editions on Amazon — Kindle, paperback, hardcover, audiobook formats — under a single title. This way, all formats are displayed together, making it easier for readers to find and choose their preferred version. Additionally, merging editions on one product page consolidates reviews across all formats, presenting a unified review count that can be more appealing to potential readers.

Depending on how your editions were published, they may already be linked together. If they’re not, this article shows you how to do it.

To merge your books, you’ll need to follow these steps on Amazon’s Author Central:

  1. Firstly, make sure the editions you wish to link have exactly the same title (product names). Amazon have been known to reject linking requests when the title names do not match exactly.
  2. Log in to either Author Central UK at https://authorcentral.amazon.co.uk or the US version at https://authorcentral.amazon.com.
  3. Go to the ‘Contact us’ page.
  4. Under ‘Select an issue,” choose ‘My Books‘.
  5. In ‘Select details‘ pick ‘Update information about a book.’
  6. Then, ‘Update something else,’ and ‘I want to link one edition of my book to another edition.’
  7. Decide how you want Amazon to contact you — either by email or phone (we recommend email so that you have an audit trail of your interaction).
  8. You must provide the ASIN for your eBook and the ISBN for your print book.

Linking your editions for the same title not only enhances your book’s appearance on Amazon but also helps your readers by making it more likely that they’ll find and purchase your book in their preferred format.

And it should only have taken a few minutes to do.
