'The day that should have changed the world'

Barry’s previous two books that he published with us were factual books, based on wartime experiences and the history of the RAF. In his latest book, he’s decided to write a novel, based on his background in studying history, and being ex-RAF himself.

“This is my 3rd book published with UK Book Publishing, so that speaks volumes in itself - no pun intended! My thanks to all for guiding me yet again to get it published. Jay was most helpful with advice and carrying out my suggestions to the book cover. I would most certainly advise any up and coming authors to use their services.”

'Spanish House Secrets'

A delightful historical romance, partly set in Spain, plotted beautifully with engaging characters. Susan’s friend provided the cover painting, making it a very personal project.

“It was such a thrill to receive the ‘gift wrapped’ copy of Spanish House Secrets. Your encouraging voice on the other end of my initial, tentative phone call gave me the confidence to believe I could actually hold a copy of my book in my hands one day. It has been a pleasure to work with UK Book Publishing.”

'A Parthenon on our Roof'

This is a story of two people who couldn’t be more different: Alexandra, a product of Greek Fire. Born into the cradle of civilization. Weaned on the teachings of ancient Greek philosophers, thrilled by the bravery of Spartans and thousands of years of cultural heritage.

And Peter, her future husband, a tea-drinking, digestive-dunking product of British society. Working to make a living with no real ambitions or dreams. But then, he fell in love and everything changed.

At times hilarious, always embarrassing, Peter’s story of how he became Greek enough to live with a Greek family includes a near-death experience on a mountain road, eccentric aunts, Greek bureaucracy, melting flip flops, and the decision to demolish the much-loved family home, replacing it with a five-storey apartment block, complete with a Parthenon on the roof terrace.

To cap it all, someone thought it a good idea to put Peter in charge of the rebuild project, despite not speaking a word of Greek or being able to read Greek contracts. What could possibly go wrong?

Such an entertaining read – and a real pleasure to work on.

“Any potential authors thinking of self publishing should avoid the vanity publishers and go straight to UK Book Publishing. They look after the author. The clarity of the service impressed me from the first look. The response from the team was excellent and prices quoted were reasonable and fair. From the moment UK Book Publishing took over publishing my book, they professionally proofread, printed, and launched it, it became a best seller on Amazon in the first week. Four months later it's still an international best selling book. Everything was perfect. I would never go anywhere else.”

'Floral Design and Blossom'

The design of this book was fundamental to the project, as clearly a book about how to create stunning floral displays and arrangements has to look good! Rita’s designs are a beautiful mix of classic and contemporary, and she shows, step-by-step, how to create these with just a few key ‘ingredients’ and a dash of flair.

“While looking for a publisher, I was searching for continual assistance, reliability, dedication, understanding, professional approach in the final product being developed. Finding a good publisher that has been engaging and assisting with honest feedback from title, imagery to influencing marketing and sales. Timings of stages and challenged in making sure the editorials and imagery is suited for the chapters and designs.
The book has been a dream to design and for the UK Book Publishing team to have understood the book from the start, to not only express interest, but actually deliver my vision, I think that’s a company that understands, listens and delivers to its consumers a fantastic service.”

'Nosey Nora'

This beautiful illustrated children’s book was a personal project to raise funds for pancreatic cancer, but book sales have far exceeded expectations and Michael sold out of his first 500 print run within weeks. Local radio, Premiership football players and social media played a big part in promoting the book, with the result that lots of money has been raised for a very important cause.

“I did look at a lot of other publishing houses – but none made me feel so positive as UK Book Publishing.
Right from the very start UK Book Publishing had my interest as the main centrepiece of all of our conversations. I do not think either Ruth or Jay could’ve done any more for me to get my book published. The finished article is way above and beyond expectations that I had at the very start. Early next year I will reengage UK Book Publishing once more.”
— Michael FitzGerald

'One Gunner’s War: In my grandfather’s footsteps'

A humble and moving tribute to the hundreds of thousands of combatants who lost their lives in the Great War, the War to end all Wars, focusing on the author’s grandfather and two of his comrades who were killed in action on the same day in 1918 and are buried together in the Ypres Reservoir Cemetery, Belgium.

“This is my second book published through UK Book Publishing. That in itself is testimony to this publishing company. As before every thing was handled extremely efficiently and professionally. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any up and coming author.”

'The Stabber of the Sky'

A concise WWII history of the Royal Air Force’s No.266 Rhodesian Fighter Squadron, this book is the culmination of years of extensive research and has been extremely well received by aviation enthusiasts. The book centres in particular on the war years and details those who served, with many archive photographs and rolls of honour.

“I found UK Book Publishing to be extremely efficient from the start to finish of my book proposal. What I believed was going to be a traumatic experience in my encounter with a book publisher for many years proved to be a very rewarding experience. The whole team advised me every step of the way from my initial submission to the day the proof hard copy came through my letterbox. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any up and coming author.”

'Bumhead Bill'

Barry brought his manuscript and illustrations into the office and had us all in stitches with his amusing rhymes and drawings. Aimed at young children who are into toilet humour (ie all children), this book will entertain and delight time and time again.

We took Barry’s drawings and turned them into a stunning colour cover, and published the book as print on demand and ebook, and Barry is also on his second print run for selling copies through many local bookshops and outlets. He has undertaken a range of marketing activity and is working hard to raise awareness of his book and support the sales. We await the next instalment with much anticipation.

“Looking for the right Publishing company? Then look no further. From start to finish this company have got it right. A very professional service from Jay, Ruth and the team. They made what I thought would be a difficult process painless. They always respond promptly to emails and calls and they listen carefully to your questions and concerns. I will be producing more Bumhead Bill books in the future and will most certainly be using UK Book Publishing. 5 Stars from me. ”

'Northumbria Bird Atlas'

This major book was ten years in the making: compiling the huge amounts of data for more than 200 birds, designing the maps and deciding how to present the data, and then laying each page out to make the most of the beautiful photography has resulted in a book that will delight its readers and provide a valuable reference resource for many enthusiastic bird watchers across the county.

“When embarking on the Northumbria Bird Atlas the Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club made a highly fortunate decision in choosing UK Book Publishing to publish and print the Atlas. The whole project needed complex mapping plus organisation of many individual files to pull together into the final pdf. Dan Brady and his team at UK Book Publishing proved to be admirably patient in dealing with our many text changes during the project. We all found Dan to be very easy to work with and he was obviously keen to produce a quality 512 page book that we could all look back on as an important publication on the distribution and abundance of Northumberland's birds. As a local firm it made communication much easier and Dan attended probably more committee meetings than he cares to remember to fully iron out all the many issues involved. To say that we are happy with the finished article is something of an understatement. Even though the Atlas was only launched yesterday I have already received many comments as to the quality of the printing and the immaculate presentation. It has featured on BBC's Look North as a major publication on Northumberland's birdlife and I am sure will have a prominent place on the shelf at UK Book Publishing as a job well done.
Thanks again to Dan and his team for their professional publishing expertise and good humour throughout even under great stress at times due to publishing deadlines.”
— Tim Dean

'Spaniels Rock'

Andrea had got quite far down the self publishing route when she ran into problems, being unhappy with some design and other aspects and instead asked us to step in and help. We tidied up the typesetting and cover, making them look more professional, and worked to a tight timescale as Andrea had already pre-sold many copies of the book.

The team particularly enjoyed working on this book as there are so many photos of cute spaniels!

“I am delighted with the professional service provided by Jay and the team at UK Book Publishing. I felt very reassured from start to finish and the final submission has exceeded all my expectations. I have no hesitations with using them again for Spaniels Rock Book 2. Thank you so much.”

'A guide to positive mental health'

The aim of this guide is to promote positive mental health in sport – and football in particular. Mental health issues can be harder to spot than physical injury, but how much support the sufferer receives can make a big difference to their recovery.

Caroline has set up a footballing support community, and this book came out of wanting to provide practical support for coaches in particular. We proofread the book, designed and laid it out, and set the book up for print on demand and online sales.

“When I first starting writing my first book, I expected a long, tedious and scary experience. After all, I'd never done anything on this scale before!
Working with UK Book Publishing has been an amazing experience. Not only did the staff walk me through the stages, but Ruth has made a scary experience into a pleasurable one. Not only did she talk me through every step of writing my first book, but the advice given and her great communication has left me wanting to write further books.
I am now planning my second book and cannot wait to work with UK Book Publishing again.”

'It’s a Dog’s Life'

We worked with author Stephen Wylie on his first book It’s a Dog’s Life, a heart-breaking tale of one dog’s journey through adversity. Stephen had a clear idea of how he wanted his book to look, and we worked with him to make his idea a reality.

We edited the book, designed and laid it out, and managed the printing of 1,000 paperback copies. Stephen is selling his book through his dog rescue charity website, with some of the proceeds going to his charity, SHAK.

“The books landed today and I still can't believe I've done it. Just wanted to thank you all for helping me when I really didn't know where to go next.”

'Tetra'

The first of a four-part series, Tetra is an exciting book by a new young author. We took his brief for the cover to create a visual that sets the book within its genre and pulls in the imagery from the story. We also edited the book and typeset it, before setting up the book for print on demand and selling online.

The author is garnering some great reviews already, so look out for the sequel.

“I stumbled upon UK Book Publishing almost by accident and it was the most fortunate accident of all. Every team member I ever interacted with were so pleasant and helpful, going above and beyond to assist me after a previous editor had let me down. From book cover to manuscript editing, the team did it all and kept me informed throughout. Can't wait to see what they do with my next three in the series!”

We designed a cover for Michael’s book, proofread and laid out the book, and had a number of copies printed for him. He particularly liked the wordplay on the cover.
