'Colour-blind'

A memoir with a difference – a life that began in Durban, South Africa, growing up ‘colour-blind’, unaware of being classed as ‘mixed blood’ until Ken tries to get an apprenticeship – only available to ‘whites’ – and then decides to seek pastures new in England, where he still resides, finding the joy of colour in breeding flowers.

“Because I'd always spoken to my grandchildren about my early childhood and life in South Africa, they asked if I'd ever thought of putting it in print. I hadn't but thought, why not. So without having any diaries or notes I began writing, sometimes well into the night.
After finishing it, I started thinking of how to get it published. I looked up the website of publishing firms and of all those I saw UK Book Publishing seemed to have all the answers I needed to know.

Once I'd spoken to Ruth and Jay I knew I'd made the right decision. I cannot praise them highly enough. Because I'd never written or published a book before, there were so many things I wanted to know about the editing, the layout etc, and when I saw the cover design I was blown away. It was the icing on the cake. Jay really excelled himself.

Thank you, Ruth, Jay and the team. This book is a one off for me, but if any first time author isn't sure about how to get their book published, contact UK Book Publishing. You'll get the best advice ever.”
