This page showcases some of the books we have had the pleasure to work on:

'Last Man Standing'

A fascinating and comprehensive account of the journey of a small Welsh seaside cricket club, Llandudno, from its small beginnings to the golden years of the 21st century, spanning 175 years. This beautiful hardback book includes research from the archives, match reports and stats, newspaper clippings and snippets of humorous anecdotes. A great read for any cricket fan.

“The finished product is amazing. Judging from the feed back I am getting during a feed back marketing exercise the quality and professional high standard of text setting and the striking design cover is unquestionably favourable. Both Jay and Ruth were so friendly, enthusiastic and helpful throughout every stage of the process in producing the book. Both highly skilled in their work. It will be a privilege to work with them again on my second book in the near future.”

'The Wharf Butcher'

Mike came to us initially for editing services. He had submitted his thriller to a literary agent, who liked it but advised him to rewrite and rework a number of aspects. After taking the edited manuscript back to the agent, Mike then decided to self publish his novel with us, so we designed a cover and set the book up for sale through print on demand.  The Wharf Butcher is a fast-paced thriller set on Tyneside, that pits the combined forces of a criminal profiler and highly ranked detective against a killer with the mind of a child. Can they get inside his head and stop him in his tracks?

“Judging from the feedback, UK Book Publishing has done a first rate professional job on my first novel – The Wharf Butcher. From start to finish, everyone on the team has been extremely helpful and supportive towards me throughout. Jay Thompson produced a stunning design cover, and Ruth Lunn proved to be a meticulous and helpful editor. It will be a privilege to work with them again.”

'Brief Lives'

Sir Alistair has published many books over a lifetime of work in industry and academia, but Brief Lives is his first popular science book. It comprises a series of essays that explain the science as well as giving a biographical insight into the men and women who have helped to forge our modern world. From Einstein to Jobs, Curie to Crick, the biographies include hand-drawn portraits of each engineer, entrepreneur, philosopher or scientist, and provide an excellent starting point for those who wish to understand the significant contribution these people have made.

We edited and designed the book, set it up for print on demand and as an ebook, and handled the marketing of the book, including sending out review copies.

“When seeking a publisher for a new book, I carefully looked for one that could edit it, design it, launch it on both Amazon and as an e-book, market it and publicise it. UK Book Publishing have exceeded my expectations on all accounts. Ruth Lunn proved to be a meticulous and helpful editor, and Jay Thompson produced an excellent design and cover. Everyone involved was very professional, very helpful and very friendly. I wholeheartedly recommend them, without reservation.”

'Tommy’s magical night adventures'

We are delighted at the response Karen has had to her book – it is such an enchanting story, and beautifully illustrated, and we enjoyed turning her words and designs into a book that will delight young children. Like many of our authors, Karen has wanted to put together a book for years – and now she has!

“I am a first time author and am proud to say that these book publishers have done an amazing job on putting my first ever book together. They have been nothing but friendly, gave great advice and were very helpful. The work that has been put into my book, to put it together, from the front cover to the back cover, is exceptional, and I have no hesitation in using them again for my next book(s), I would like to give a big thank you to all members of the company for all their hard work and effort in putting my book together, it looks great, and would definitely recommend this company to all those who are pursuing to write a book (s) I am one very happy lady THANKYOU ALL.”

'“…Nor good red herring”'

Following a life-long interest in aviation and mid-20th century military history, William Morland embarked on a project to learn more about his father’s unlikely participation in the Korean War. What unfolded forms the backbone to this impressive 600-page book, which gives an insight into the workings of the Royal Navy, the Fleet Air Arm’s venture into electronic intelligence following WWII and a fascinating account of how a former scholarship boy ended up flying planes thousands of miles from home.

“Having completed the manuscript to my book, I knew that although it contained everything I had sought to embrace from the story I wished to impart, it was still some way away from being what I hoped it might become and in all honesty, I had no definitive idea what that would be - a dilemma no doubt faced by hundreds of authors blessed, or should that be cursed, with the feeling that they had something to say. With the hints and ideas from the books in my library providing me with some outstanding examples to follow, including those I would be wise to avoid, before my book could appear next to them on the shelf the very least the work deserved were the attentions of a proof-reader and an editor.
In this UK Book Publishing were of the utmost help and assistance on every step of the way. Here my editor, Ruth, quietly and carefully imparted that ineffable sheen to the text, with a degree of care and understanding brought only to the task by one with a love of language.
From there the layout and final design of the book was accomplished by Jay, the company's design technician, a title that fails to convey the level of his artistic abilities or the empathy and enthusiasm he brought to the task of developing the text and accompanying images, into the handsome title it is today.

'Mosaics of Fishbourne Roman Palace'

The mosaics at Fishbourne Roman Palace are a hidden gem. Excavated in the 1960s, the Palace in West Sussex offers up fine examples of Roman mosaics and a fascinating glimpse into life in a Romano-British villa. Featuring full colour images that show the extent of the preservation, Derrick’s book provides a detailed guide to its history and an explanation behind the archaelogical treats that have been uncovered at the Palace.

“All the team at UK Book Publishing did a thoroughly professional job from the initial proof-reading and cover design and laying out of the text and photos. Also they were always available by phone or email to answer any questions that I had during the publishing process. My second book is now in their hands.”

'When do the wages go in?'

Very funny and very rude neatly sums this book up – a tale of a group of lads who work together on a construction project in Florida and their scrapes and misadventures, and how they managed to spend their wages faster than they earned them. It all happened as well!

“Brilliant service from start to finish, I was working outside of the UK and they were still able to communicate well and organise each step of the book for me. Found their service very personal and professional.”

'Northumbria Bird Atlas'

This major book was ten years in the making: compiling the huge amounts of data for more than 200 birds, designing the maps and deciding how to present the data, and then laying each page out to make the most of the beautiful photography has resulted in a book that will delight its readers and provide a valuable reference resource for many enthusiastic bird watchers across the county.

“When embarking on the Northumbria Bird Atlas the Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club made a highly fortunate decision in choosing UK Book Publishing to publish and print the Atlas. The whole project needed complex mapping plus organisation of many individual files to pull together into the final pdf. Dan Brady and his team at UK Book Publishing proved to be admirably patient in dealing with our many text changes during the project. We all found Dan to be very easy to work with and he was obviously keen to produce a quality 512 page book that we could all look back on as an important publication on the distribution and abundance of Northumberland's birds. As a local firm it made communication much easier and Dan attended probably more committee meetings than he cares to remember to fully iron out all the many issues involved. To say that we are happy with the finished article is something of an understatement. Even though the Atlas was only launched yesterday I have already received many comments as to the quality of the printing and the immaculate presentation. It has featured on BBC's Look North as a major publication on Northumberland's birdlife and I am sure will have a prominent place on the shelf at UK Book Publishing as a job well done.
Thanks again to Dan and his team for their professional publishing expertise and good humour throughout even under great stress at times due to publishing deadlines.”
— Tim Dean

'Don’t Shoot the Messenger'

This is very much a book that cried out to be written. Chrissy knew from a young age that she had a psychic gift. But her mother made her repress it and she felt like she’d lost her identity. Now she has the chance to tell her story and hopefully help others out there on a similar journey – certainly the feedback from readers has encouraged her to follow up with a second book focusing on those she has helped.

“I am a first time Author, but having used UK Book Publishing, made it very easy for me to understand how things work and explained things in detail for me. The full team are very professional in all they do and at this moment in time publishing my 2nd Book.

I would recommend this company to anyone hoping to write a book or needs help in any other way.”

'Spaniels Rock'

Andrea had got quite far down the self publishing route when she ran into problems, being unhappy with some design and other aspects and instead asked us to step in and help. We tidied up the typesetting and cover, making them look more professional, and worked to a tight timescale as Andrea had already pre-sold many copies of the book.

The team particularly enjoyed working on this book as there are so many photos of cute spaniels!

“I am delighted with the professional service provided by Jay and the team at UK Book Publishing. I felt very reassured from start to finish and the final submission has exceeded all my expectations. I have no hesitations with using them again for Spaniels Rock Book 2. Thank you so much.”

'Vance Clayton through the years'

‘Vance Clayton through the years’ tells the story of North East musician and entertainer Brian Leonard, who has worked in the entertainment business for more than 50 years. His biographer approached us for help in producing the book in time for Brian’s Golden Wedding anniversary and we were delighted to work with Michael and Brian.

The first print run sold out quickly and the second print sales are also going well. Anyone wishing to purchase a copy can contact Michael on 0191 2500870.

“As the author of the biography I, along with Brian Leonard the subject, considered a number of options for its publication including online self-publishing. However we both wanted a company with whom we could meet personally and which had the necessary services and tools but at the same time allowed us to make our own decisions throughout the publishing process. In UK Book Publishing we were delighted to find just what we wanted and more and they were virtually on our doorstep!

We were impressed with the friendly and understanding reception we received at our first meeting and thereafter with the support we received particularly from Jay Thompson. Himself a musician he seemingly had empathy for the project and, inter alia, designed a book cover which really made an impact with us and those ultimately buying the book.

We have no hesitation in recommending UK Book Publishing to other aspiring authors.”

'Time Has Past'

A fascinating premise: what if you could go back in time and discover just who Jack the Ripper really was? And what if you got embroiled in this spate of gruesome murders and got a whole lot more than you’d bargained for? Graeme’s book, Time has Past (good pun) cleverly combines the known facts and timelines about the Ripper with an evocative and atmospheric tale that explores the darker side of human nature.

“I cannot express enough my gratitude for all the help I have received in the publishing of my book, from the very first consultation to the finished article the team have constantly kept me up to date on the progress and have been extremely helpful and quick to respond to my many questions with a very professional and friendly approach. All I can say is thank you.”

'The Secrets We Keep'

When Aimee contacted us about publishing her book, she had already had several attempts to publish, but had lost confidence in the companies she’d approached due to their lack of communication. We were very happy to guide her through the process and get her book out into the marketplace, for The secrets we keep is confidently written and a beautiful heart-warming tale that will appeal to women the world over.

'The Five Stone Steps'

The Five Stone Steps masterfully blends fact and fiction to create a fascinating insight into life on Tyneside in the 1920s. Based on the memoirs of a serving policeman and the many hilarious tales told by his grandmother, John has written a highly entertaining and informative book.

As well as producing paperback  and ebook versions, we also undertook a marketing campaign for John, resulting in a number of articles in local newspapers, helping to drive book sales.

“As someone who suffers with anxiety problems I hummed and hawed a long time over whether or not to go ahead and self publish my book The Five Stone Steps. As the tales are set in South Shields and I live near Bristol I wanted a firm based in the North East and UK Book Publishing have really fitted the bill. From the very first I was impressed by their friendly but businesslike approach. Ruth gave me sound editing and marketing advice, Judith helped me through the financial side of things, and Jay did a brilliant job with the cover and layout of the book which included illustrations – Dan was always in the background with helpful advice if needed. I’d not hesitate to recommend them to anyone thinking of dipping their toe in the water of self publishing.”

'With my head in the clouds'

Gwyn Mullett has led quite a life. So much so that when he came to tell his story, he couldn’t fit it all into one book. Part one of his autobiography tracks his life from growing up as a boy fascinated by aviation, through to becoming one of the youngest pilots and flying the fastest time for British Airways across the Atlantic. With unflinching honesty, With my head in the Clouds takes you on a hilarious and at times disturbing journey, as the reader discovers just how close near misses in the sky really are, and what actually goes on in the cockpit at moments of crisis, not to mention just what the flight crews get up to when off-duty.

“It was back in 2013 that I started a search for a publishing company in the UK to publish my book. After a number of refusals and 'we will call you' answers I contacted UK Book Publishing and was presently surprised to get a friendly voice on the end of the phone. I submitted my script and they agreed to publish it. I found that in all my dealings with UK Book Publishing I have received a prompt and courteous service. As for pricing they are extremely competitive and I would not hesitate to recommend them”

'The Twisted Yarn'

The Twisted Yarn is an enchanting tale of adventure, love and companionship, weaving nursery rhymes with modern day challenges to take the reader on a voyage of discovery. We were delighted to work with Rosemary on her first novel that will appeal to all those who like a good ‘yarn’.

“My novel, The Twisted Yarn - out now as a print-on-demand/e-book - did not require close copy-editing by the time I put it in the hands of the editorial team at UK Book Publishing. Nevertheless they did a thorough job on it and found points that had been overlooked by previous editors. From that initial contact right through to the delivery of finished books I found their service prompt, efficient, in all respects, and - probably the most important - personalised and friendly. I never waited more than a day for a reply to a query and I came to feel by the end that although I had no opportunity to meet the team in person, being based in Paris myself, that I 'knew' them. I cannot speak too highly of the service they provide and of the competitiveness of their pricing. ”

'The Transient'

Josephine and Robert Woods came to us with a whole host of ideas for a series of books – poetry, children’s books, illustrated books. We started with this collection of poetry and designed a cover that would make the most of the beautiful setting that inspired so many of the poems.

“Josephine (the author) and I are very happy we found UK Book Publishing.
The project, to publish a two book poetry series, has gone very smoothly and everybody we have had contact with has been a delight to work with.
Their ability to take a spoken concept with supplied images and create exactly the sort of cover envisaged is a testimonial in its own right.
We look forward to expanding with E-Books.
Thanks, UK Book Publishing.
