“When an author has put their heart, soul, sweat and tears into a book, they want to know that when they give it to a book publisher they can trust them on every level to fulfill the promises made on their company blurb. UK Book Publishing is without doubt the best any author could hope for. I know because I made mistakes in the past, paid way too much money and felt like a number. UK Book Publishing made me feel like a member of their family from day one and have exceeded all expectations, so if you're looking for a publisher, look no further because you will not find better.”

'The Organisation'

The Organisation is a fantasy set in a make-believe world of wooden sailing ships, horse-drawn carriages and soldiers in red tunics and tall hats. Although it is a fairy tale it contains no magic or talking animals and is not meant for young children. It is intended for grown-ups, particularly ones with inquiring interests in a wide range of contentious issues..

This is a book for readers who like to be challenged, or entertained, or those who will delight in the beautiful illustrations accompanying this biting satire.

More details and brief notes about the author can be found in the book’s website at trevor-croft.com

“UK Book Publishing has provided an excellent service. I found its team of specialists to be very caring, friendly and patient. My numerous questions and suggestions have all been handled with patience, courtesy and expertise. I feel very pleased that I chose them to publish and help to advertise my book. I do not hesitate to recommend them to writers, either experienced or new to authorship, wanting to have their work published.”

'Downhill: A dramatic Romeo and Juliet set in the 1980s coal mining North'

Brought together by their passion for rock music, kindred teen-spirits Ged and Julie bridge their social divide, fall in love and marry. So far, so good…
But when life throws them into a series of challenges, the only way is down…

An exciting debut from English author Ann Thorsson, who now lives in Iceland, but has based her first book on growing up in the old mining towns in the 1980s. Get set for a rollercoaster ride.

“As a first-time author, I was rather nervous of being tied to an agent, which could have meant having control and publication taken out of my hands, so explored the option of self-publication. I was similarly wary of the machine-produced "auto-bot" type of self-publication. After all, when you've spent a couple of years writing your novel, you want to do it justice!

Having discovered UK Book Publishing's website, and reading the testimonials of other authors, I felt confident that this was the right company to help me with publication. From the initial manuscript inquiry to the polished and finished product, the team have supported the process every step of the way. E-mails were always answered promptly, and the advice was always friendly, professional and helpful. I would say they offer "supported publication" rather than "self-publication". They are clearly dedicated and passionate about helping authors achieve their dreams.

I would not hesitate to use UK Book Publishing again, and highly recommend their service - it is tailor-made to what you need, their professionalism is second-to-none and worth every penny. Many thanks to Ruth, Jay and the team!”

A humble and moving tribute to the hundreds of thousands of combatants who lost their lives in the Great War, the War to end all Wars, focusing on the author’s grandfather and two of his comrades who were killed in action on the same day in 1918 and are buried together in the Ypres Reservoir Cemetery, Belgium.

“This is my second book published through UK Book Publishing. That in itself is testimony to this publishing company. As before every thing was handled extremely efficiently and professionally. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any up and coming author.”

'Colour-blind'

A memoir with a difference – a life that began in Durban, South Africa, growing up ‘colour-blind’, unaware of being classed as ‘mixed blood’ until Ken tries to get an apprenticeship – only available to ‘whites’ – and then decides to seek pastures new in England, where he still resides, finding the joy of colour in breeding flowers.

“Because I'd always spoken to my grandchildren about my early childhood and life in South Africa, they asked if I'd ever thought of putting it in print. I hadn't but thought, why not. So without having any diaries or notes I began writing, sometimes well into the night.
After finishing it, I started thinking of how to get it published. I looked up the website of publishing firms and of all those I saw UK Book Publishing seemed to have all the answers I needed to know.

Once I'd spoken to Ruth and Jay I knew I'd made the right decision. I cannot praise them highly enough. Because I'd never written or published a book before, there were so many things I wanted to know about the editing, the layout etc, and when I saw the cover design I was blown away. It was the icing on the cake. Jay really excelled himself.

Thank you, Ruth, Jay and the team. This book is a one off for me, but if any first time author isn't sure about how to get their book published, contact UK Book Publishing. You'll get the best advice ever.”

'Abigail’s Secret'

The appeal (and success) of this book lies in the way the author’s historical research has been woven into a wonderful tale of secrets, romance, relationships and most of all the way we can never fully escape the past. Set over almost a century, Abigail’s Secret has an enduring charm.

“After the hard but exciting, rewarding, work of writing a book, one is faced with the question, if desired, as to how to get the work published. It is a rather daunting prospect. This was my position in the later months of 2015 but after some research I was given the name of the publishing firm UK Book Publishing, who are based in Whitley Bay, Northumberland. I contacted them and after considering samples of my book they gave me a contract, with a view to publishing my book. From that initial contract to the publishing of my book ‘Abigail’s Secret’ this firm could not have been more helpful. They led me through the process with efficiency, competency, courtesy, and encouragement, from beginning to end and I could not have wished for better professional guidance. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and thus encouraged am now beginning research for a second book. This is a publishing firm to be thoroughly recommended, and I will certainly be in touch with UK Book Publishing again.”

'Wall to Wall'

A tense thriller with lighter moments, and beautifully written, Peter’s first book is set in the not too distant future:

Britain is out of Europe; Scotland has become independent following a second referendum; and Russian forces have just marched over the Latvian border and occupied the cities of Rezekne and Daugavpils, testing NATO’s response.

Retired army captain Simon Shaw unwittingly finds himself at the forefront of the Resistance Movement, in the Scottish border region, as England quickly becomes the next target for Russia’s expansionist leaders. Simon needs to draw on all the skills honed whilst serving in Berlin before the Wall came down, to fight the immediate threat being posed to a weakened, divided country.

“I began writing this, my first book, well into my retirement years almost by accident and had no idea what, if anything, to do with it. Also by accident, I discovered UK Book Publishing. I discovered that the company is in Northumberland, where my book’s action takes place. I then discovered that Jay Thompson actually lives in the house in which I was born! How could I look elsewhere and how glad I am that I didn’t.

My book has just been published and, although I haven’t met either Jay or Ruth, they seem almost like friends. Nothing has been too much trouble, despite my no-doubt amateurish pestering. Jay’s artwork is just what I would have wished and all stages up to and including getting my book onto Amazon were handled with great efficiency. I have spent many years working with languages, including my own - English, and felt I didn’t need a proof reader. How fortunate I was to rethink. I found that proof-reading my own text for the fourth time – how boring that can be – was still turning up errors and I needed Ruth – who turned up still more and saved me from three major howlers, including an army captain who seemed to be eight years old!

Calls and emails were always answered swiftly and with warmth and courtesy.

Ruth and Jay and the rest of the team actually contrived to turn a venture which I had approached with apprehension into a pleasure.”

'The Stabber of the Sky'

A concise WWII history of the Royal Air Force’s No.266 Rhodesian Fighter Squadron, this book is the culmination of years of extensive research and has been extremely well received by aviation enthusiasts. The book centres in particular on the war years and details those who served, with many archive photographs and rolls of honour.

“I found UK Book Publishing to be extremely efficient from the start to finish of my book proposal. What I believed was going to be a traumatic experience in my encounter with a book publisher for many years proved to be a very rewarding experience. The whole team advised me every step of the way from my initial submission to the day the proof hard copy came through my letterbox. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any up and coming author.”

A book of reflective poems published on the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, this is a most personal journey, with the poems being inspired by the author’s father’s experiences, serving on the Western Front in the First World War.

“What a pleasure (and a bit of a surprise these days!) to encounter service that was unfailingly prompt, efficient, courteous and friendly. I was delighted with the high quality of my completed book of poems about the First World War; the cover produced by UK Book Publishing's designer is particularly attractive. I had not self-published before but this small team made it an interesting and satisfying experience. ”

'The Flight of the Black Necked Swans'

Since escaping the fascist regime in Chile in the 1970s, Milton worked in the NHS for 40 years, specialising as an orthopaedic surgeon. He has campaigned tirelessly for safer patient care in hospitals, and in particular has called for legislation on nurse and midwife to patient ratios. He became a whistleblower in 2005, when his concerns over dangerous nurse staffing levels went ignored at Tameside Hospital, and The Flight of the Black Necked Swans combines his ongoing quest for more funding for the NHS with autobiographical details of his early life in Chile, and how a love of mountaineering and trekking has helped provide a balance in his life. A compelling read, an important book, and one we feel privileged to have worked on.

“The cost of self publishing my book by UK Book Publishing was exceptional value for money. I know it because before settling for this publishing company I approached several others in the UK and one in the USA.
I rated the service exceptional because it truly was so. Ruth Lunn and Jason Thompson, designer, were always available and provided valuable advice in a friendly manner, always ready to listen and carry out my requests without fuss. [this was not my experience with the other publishing companies]
My readers praise the quality of the book in every respect: its jacket, the cover design, the structure and compagination, the quality of the paper.

I rated all as exceptional.

'A new beginning'

This is the first book in an exciting new science fiction trilogy, The Human Empire Story. Set in the late 22nd century, the world is recovering from a catastrophic event that has broken the US and the Western world. And a new empire has accidentally awoken an ancient evil with an intent to conquer Earth and enslave its population. Can Captain Magnus Tempest, commander of the United Nations Fleet Ship the King Canute, save Earth from an evil that is out of this world?

“After I had wrote the draft for my book I did some research on how best to get my book published. Looking at traditional versus self-publishing I did some research; a big bonus for me was that self-publishing gave me 100% control of my book and its direction in regard to how I wanted to market and promote it. It also meant that I wasn’t tied into a contract. I looked through the web and noticed that UK Book Publishing had some of the best reviews and examples of self-publishing. I gave them a call and spoke to their team; from then I had no doubts that this company was perfect for my venture. From the initial call to the finished product; they talked me through all the steps. From proof reading, editing, to cover design and getting it up on Amazon - the team talked me through every stage via phone and email. The service was faultless; I found the team professional, friendly and helpful, but most of all extremely approachable which I think is very important. They went above and beyond to help me reach my goal, and I felt that they wanted to be sincerely involved with my vision. I now have an amazing book and I don't think it would have looked as good if I had gone with a traditional publisher. So I say a big Thank You to Jay, Ruth, Judith and Dan, and to the rest of the team. ”

'The times of my life'

A published author of three books (on hockey and ferries in Scotland), Dr Marie Weir came to us for her most personal book to date – her autobiography, spanning nine decades of a life lived to the full. Inevitably, given the timespan, the book provides fascinating social history for readers – in particular, growing up through the depression of the 1930s and the Second World War, the birth of the NHS, the impact of the application of behavioural psychologies in the fields of youth justice and counselling, and the growing opportunities for women to achieve their potential.

“Excellent service through editing, inclusion of photos to publication. The team stayed in regular contact, listened to and implemented changes - even last minute ones.
Full credit to both technical skill and publishing professional delivery. Fully recommend this team.”

'When the tide goes out'

As a semi-retired geography teacher, P J Bennett has used his knowledge of volcanoes and tsunamis to pen a tense thriller, set in the Canaries, which has been well received in the market. We published the book as a print on demand paperback and ebook and the author has been marketing the novel through review sites and other platforms to great success.

“After finishing my first book, I began searching in earnest for a publisher and soon discovered that I was entering a world about which I knew absolutely nothing and for some time was completely and utterly bewildered. Then, I discovered UK Publishing and very quickly everything fell into place. From start to finish, the service that they offered was absolutely first rate and I am eternally grateful to them for turning my finished manuscript into something that I am immensely proud of. They were there for me every step of the way with advice and support and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. I will certainly use UK Publishing for my next book and would recommend any other aspiring author to do so too. ”

'Bumhead Bill'

Barry brought his manuscript and illustrations into the office and had us all in stitches with his amusing rhymes and drawings. Aimed at young children who are into toilet humour (ie all children), this book will entertain and delight time and time again.

We took Barry’s drawings and turned them into a stunning colour cover, and published the book as print on demand and ebook, and Barry is also on his second print run for selling copies through many local bookshops and outlets. He has undertaken a range of marketing activity and is working hard to raise awareness of his book and support the sales. We await the next instalment with much anticipation.

“Looking for the right Publishing company? Then look no further. From start to finish this company have got it right. A very professional service from Jay, Ruth and the team. They made what I thought would be a difficult process painless. They always respond promptly to emails and calls and they listen carefully to your questions and concerns. I will be producing more Bumhead Bill books in the future and will most certainly be using UK Book Publishing. 5 Stars from me. ”

“The finished product is amazing. Judging from the feed back I am getting during a feed back marketing exercise the quality and professional high standard of text setting and the striking design cover is unquestionably favourable. Both Jay and Ruth were so friendly, enthusiastic and helpful throughout every stage of the process in producing the book. Both highly skilled in their work. 'The Wharf Butcher'

Mike came to us initially for editing services. He had submitted his thriller to a literary agent, who liked it but advised him to rewrite and rework a number of aspects. After taking the edited manuscript back to the agent, Mike then decided to self publish his novel with us, so we designed a cover and set the book up for sale through print on demand.  The Wharf Butcher is a fast-paced thriller set on Tyneside, that pits the combined forces of a criminal profiler and highly ranked detective against a killer with the mind of a child. Can they get inside his head and stop him in his tracks?

“Judging from the feedback, UK Book Publishing has done a first rate professional job on my first novel – The Wharf Butcher. From start to finish, everyone on the team has been extremely helpful and supportive towards me throughout. Jay Thompson produced a stunning design cover, and Ruth Lunn proved to be a meticulous and helpful editor. It will be a privilege to work with them again.”

'“…Nor good red herring”'

Following a life-long interest in aviation and mid-20th century military history, William Morland embarked on a project to learn more about his father’s unlikely participation in the Korean War. What unfolded forms the backbone to this impressive 600-page book, which gives an insight into the workings of the Royal Navy, the Fleet Air Arm’s venture into electronic intelligence following WWII and a fascinating account of how a former scholarship boy ended up flying planes thousands of miles from home.

“Having completed the manuscript to my book, I knew that although it contained everything I had sought to embrace from the story I wished to impart, it was still some way away from being what I hoped it might become and in all honesty, I had no definitive idea what that would be - a dilemma no doubt faced by hundreds of authors blessed, or should that be cursed, with the feeling that they had something to say. With the hints and ideas from the books in my library providing me with some outstanding examples to follow, including those I would be wise to avoid, before my book could appear next to them on the shelf the very least the work deserved were the attentions of a proof-reader and an editor.
In this UK Book Publishing were of the utmost help and assistance on every step of the way. Here my editor, Ruth, quietly and carefully imparted that ineffable sheen to the text, with a degree of care and understanding brought only to the task by one with a love of language.
From there the layout and final design of the book was accomplished by Jay, the company's design technician, a title that fails to convey the level of his artistic abilities or the empathy and enthusiasm he brought to the task of developing the text and accompanying images, into the handsome title it is today.

Also they were always available by phone or email to answer any questions that I had during the publishing process. My second book is now in their hands.”
